[...] April 14, 2008 at 11:26 am (1) In my Intro. to Studies in World Literature class we have been reading What Is World Literatuer? by David Damrosch. This module we are completing the last chapter in which Damrosch discusses the Dictionary of the Khazars by Milorad Pavic, a Serbian writer. This book is of special interest because Pavic has arranged it as a cross-referenced compilation of 3 different encyclopedias, one each based upon sources from Christian, Jewish, and Arabic sources. Further, the book comes in both a “male” and “female” edition which are described as being exactly the same except for one paragraph. I have not read Pavic’s book yet, but am extremely interested in it because of the discussion by Damrosch, and a look at Pavic’s website (translated into English) http://www.khazars.com/en/autobiography/.
